It is best to visit the Dentist every 6 months for a hygiene appointment if you have not been diagnosed with gum disease. The reason for returning every 6 months is to allow for constant observation of your oral health status.
For a first appointment, a Comprehensive or Full Exam is completed with a full set of x-rays if one has not already been taken. This is necessary so that a thorough and accurate evaluation of all teeth can be made. Maintaining a healthy mouth is important for overall health.
At subsequent visits, x-rays will be taken as needed.
